Soul Hang Out

The Spot Where the Soul Thoughts are Spoken and Feeling Out Loud, Your Space

Luz Aguirrebena

I want to tell you that what you said stayed in my mind to remind me to keep going when I stumbled with doubt.

OK People, here is a project I have been envisioning for a long time and actually have written about it a couple of times.

I started a conversation with Phoenix about it. We'll unite forces here. I am so thrilled to have Phoenix in our Community. She is an amazing writer and I couldn't be more honored to have her be a part of Soul Hang Out contributing with her invaluable content. So, back to the project, the time to carry on with it is now. Here it goes.

I am sure you have been in a situation where somebody, showed in your life for a long or short period of time and left you with a gift, a Mantra just made for you, verbalized in the language your soul understood,.. that stayed...in the archives of your mind, showing up exactly at the moment you needed to hear it again to give you strength and reassurance to continue your path to the top of the mountain. The place where you are are becoming whole again.

That mountain that when you are in the middle and cannot see the bottom any more nore the top, makes you feel to run away, sometimes. Been there, Right?

It always was about the blind faith they had in you that was bigger than the one you had in yourself. Right?

Dan Kennedy says that if you don't have in your life at least one person who believes more in you than you believe yourself , you have to go and find it PRESTO!

On the other hand, how many times you actually go back to the person who planted the seed of belief in you in your head and say something like "Thank You", "Here is the story of how you made such an impact in my life. I want to give you my thoughts about you. I want to acknowledge you with my gratitude."

I believe that if there was one word that would make a huge difference in the world if applied seriously, would be acknowledgment. Acknowledgment is the knot that helps us tie the pearl that each us represent to the pearl necklace of the global community. unity. Cooperation. ( Berny Dohrmann in his book The Super Achievers Mindset uses the pearl necklace metaphor) If you want to be an Entrepreneur it is a must read!

Scott Degraffenreid, the Social Scientist Architect expert in Millennials, says: " With the Languages of Acknowledgment, you can learn the Secrets to becoming really and truly connected with almost all the people in your Social Networks at work, in the community and most importantly and difficult of all - at home" http://n2millennials.com/products/products.html?hop=luzma.

Phoenix and I are proposing to share the Acknowledgment stories about that person who left a trail in your mind that helped you continue on the path to believing in yourself...

Correct me if I am wrong, but my take is that most of the time we keep the feeling to ourselves breaking the chain of unity...isolating one another...So, here is your chance to express it, document it publicly to restore the silver thread that unites each unique pearl into the pearl necklace of our common humanity, one knot at the time.

We'll start with the stories of last year....

Then we can move to the trascendental stories of the past...Alice Miller calls those people who made such a mark in somebody's life "Enlightened Witnesses". We want to encourage Enlightened witnesses to multiply.

Here is my first story.

When I decided to start the Soul Hang Out blog, and told my friend Marian, she said "That's great Luzma...it's perfect for you...you are sooo bold" After that, most of the time when my internal editor, "the woman in the gray suit" :) who doesn't believe in my right brain said something along the lines of: "What do you think you are doing...you'll never pull this off...I heard Marian's voice telling me that it was perfectly alright to be bold...:) "That's perfect for you Luzma,,,you are sooo bold"

So, that's my first one. ..please feel welcome to share your stories of Acknowledgment. The next one I will tell is the one around the huge impact that Ari Galper had in my life...

I struggle everyday with bipolar disorder and obessessive (am I spelling that right?) compulsive disorder. I have my mood swings, and then I am desperate to be forgiven. The one thing that comes to mind, to remind me to stay strong when I feel the ground beneath me slipping, is when my babies, one is 3 and one is 6, tell me they love me at the end of the day. That puts the doubts to rest, and helps me face another day, just a little bit stronger. Luz, thank you very much for such a great question.

Love,
Jenny

Hi Luz,

I haven't responded to this discussion because my answer to it is found in my blogs referencing my grandmother. As you know, she was the one person who was always there for me. She loved me unconditionally and encouraged me to be creative. I never got to tell her how much I appreciated her. I was only twelve when she died. In my "Heal Yourself: Heal Your World (Part One)" blog I talk about a poem I had written for her--a poem my mother read at her funeral, a poem my mother placed in her coffin. All these years, I have regretted not having the opportunity to tell my grandmother how much I appreciated everything she did for me. In hind sight, I now see that my poem was my note of appreciation for the creativity she nurtured in me. I never saw it until today. Even when I was writing the blog, I didn't see it. Now, I do.

I was devastated when I found out my mother had put my only copy of that poem in my grandmother's coffin. I had lost my grandmother, and I had lost the only words, up until that point, that I had ever written about her. Now I know, she heard the words I had written. She knew how much I loved her; and while I may never get those words back, thanks to my grandmother, there are plenty more where they came from.
